On July 2nd, 2008 The Wayne County Fair and Agricultural Society had a loss of one of their longest standing Board Members and Fair Supporters. Leland Herman passed away at Providence Medical Center at the age of 85. Leland was on the Wayne County Fair
board for 54 years and president for 23. Leland's contribution to the Fair has been an invaluable part of it's evolution through the years.

The Nebraska State Patrol Rollover simulator will be conducting demonstrations on the East side of the St. Mary’s food stand each night of the fair from 6-9 p.m. The simulator will be staffed with members of Wayne County Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue.
This event is being sponsored by The Nebraska State Patrol, Hasemann-Shumacher Funeral Home, Providence Medical Center, Hoskins Fire & Rescue, Winside Fire and Rescue, Wayne Fire & Rescue Departments.
